Voted Nay

Hey LV,

I really appreciate you creating a proposal but will be voting against this version for the following reasons:

Lack of accountability: Up-front payment of a large amount of money

Lack of aligned incentives: I don't believe this proposal to be in the best interest of token holders as the proposal is not laid out in a way to incentivise you to create maximum value for token holders.

Hi Gabriel!^^ πŸ‘‹

Q1: Lack of accountability: Up-front payment of a large amount of money

A1: As you can read in the proposal document, payments are made on a weekly basis using the WagMedia bot. Nothing is paid in advance.

All the payments that are made are very well specified and breaking down all the activity that is going to be done.

If you have any specific questions about how a certain activity will be carried out or a strategy will be applied, I will be happy to answer it.

Q2: Lack of aligned incentives: I don't believe this proposal to be in the best interest of token holders as the proposal is not laid out in a way to incentivize you to create maximum value for token holders.

A2: Could you help me by saying how a content generation proposal would align with the interests of token holders? You have to excuse me, but as I understand some opinions, what some of you see is aligned with the interests of the community is paying a marketing agency for a predefined number of impacts instead of incentive the community openly to share their knowledge and points of view, right?

On the other hand, if what you're asking is about how to ensure we maximize the results and demonstrate a real progress in the evolution of content/creators, then that's a good question. This is all clearly answered in the proposal and with examples, especially in the section where each category of creator is defined.

I would ask you and all who voted NAYs to read the proposal document in detail and formulate all the doubts you have in a concise way in order to answer everything in an orderly manner, so that everything is verified for future similar discussions of this or any other initiative that keeps the same objectives.

All the best.

Dear LV, Thanks again for the openness on your proposal. The points I raised during talks have been clarified, except reporting on the usage of funds of the previous proposal. Without this report, I am temporarly voting Nay but I will happily change my vote if it is provided before the end of voting period.

Hello bLd!

Thank you very much for your support! πŸ™Œ

Here you have a link to a first advanced version of our group activity reports:

Creadores Web3 activity (02/08/2022 - (02/12/2022)

In this document you can find data about 94 pieces of original content that have received tips during the last 4 months and 32 translations that have been made into Spanish.

From this information, surely everyone will be able to better understand the approaches and conclusions presented in the document of our proposal.

I will be happy to answer any questions about the assessment of individual pieces of content, the evaluation of the profile of the creators and their series or about the strategies to apply to continue scaling the work and improving the results.

Three important points to highlight:

  • This report is a first version. In the coming days I will expand this template with more columns of data to consider and an extended analysis of each creator content series and progress.

  • The links to the reviews are links to the discord post of the content. Some simple reviews are posted there but I am commenting on this detail because many reviews have been done by video call with the different creators/teams

  • The data is ordered by date, so if as you go through the document you notice that some pieces of content of similar quality receive more valuation, it is due to the drop in the price of KSM that has occurred until December.

I voted Aye for this with 4x conviction for a simple reason. I will be one of the part time contributors of WagMedia in Spanish as I had been while it was 100% under the WagMedia umbrella in terms of funding. So yeah, call me biased if you want lol. Good luck Juan with the proposal !

This is a step in the the right direction LV!

Be sure to try and automate as much as possible. You can make use of twitter and youtube APIs to read in/update the reach data automatically for example.

Happy to help on that part.

Is there a spanish ambassador community you could integrate with? It seems there's a disconnect between media treasury proposals and the existing ambassador communities where some of the ambassadors have already been doing the same work. It would be great to see language specific media bounties and for those media bounties to integrate existing ambassador communities who have been working unpaid for years.

Hi Stake Plus! Thanks for the comment. The activity of various ambassadors in the Spanish-speaking community is exceptional!

Is there a spanish ambassador community you could integrate with?

Answering your question, yes of course! Several ambassadors from the Spanish-speaking community have already been receiving tips and support during the months of activity that we have had under Bounty 12. And we want many more to join this more mature stage of the initiative in the coming months!

In the end, the fundamental pillar of these initiatives for content creation is to be open to all users to participate, share their content and receive a tip for it if it is considered together with a review to improve their work and define their own solid series of content, with a purpose to fulfill.

We are also in contact with the main groups of ambassadors from the Spanish-speaking community to collaborate between initiatives and optimize tasks, especially in the work of managing the translations that are made into Spanish in order to organize, give visibility and monitor this work.

Over the next few days we will publish a complete wiki explaining how our open group works so that accessing it is more intuitive for all users.

Please, I will be happy to answer any in-depth questions that may arise on this topic, since it covers very important details to take into account when working on these initiatives. Thanks for reading me!

A follow up question to my last. Is there a reason that you aren't using the existing spanish language media bounty or creating your own spanish language media bounty? I'm becoming strongly opposed to ad-hoc managed pools of funds that take the form of bounties without the oversight of a bounty. I understand there are issues with the bounty system, and those can be addressed, but by leaving the bounty system we're losing all the governance oversight on funds. There are several solutions to the potential downside of the bounty structure and the downside of leaving the bounty structure entirely is much greater than working within it's existing limitations.

If there need to be changes to the structure or mechanics of the existing spanish language bounty you can work with the administrative curators to make that happen. If the administrative curator set needs to be replaced for some reason, that can happen too.

Thanks

Is there a reason that you aren't using the existing spanish language media bounty or creating your own spanish language media bounty?

In my reply to this similar question from CoinStudio in the discussion of the proposal, I expose my point of view about the importance of the independence between this type of initiatives. I also comment on some of the differences between the two proposals without going into direct comparisons.

On this occasion we have not considered the possibility of requesting a bounty as such. In this regard, we have followed the same guidelines that all groups derived from WagMedia have recently followed and made a request for a medium spender in order to have greater decision-making power over the management of the treasury and continue operating with weekly payments to the creators and members of the team thanks to the bot offered by WM.

Monthly reports will be made explaining all the payments made through this initiative. This report is a first version, although more data will be added and the template will be modified, adapting it to the new work methodology with the three categories of creator profiles.

If there need to be changes to the structure or mechanics of the existing spanish language bounty you can work with the administrative curators to make that happen. If the administrative curator set needs to be replaced for some reason, that can happen too.

Once the part of their bounty to incentivize the creation of original content is working, the administrative team, curators and all creators can continue to count on with our support and all the resources we generate.

Thank you very much for reading me! I will be happy to answer any other questions, give more information or listen to any suggestions for the next steps to take.

I am against of centralizing everything in only one group of curators, the other bounty for Spanish can work great (they did and are doing a very high quality work) but I don’t see a problem in having more than one initiatives for this important language, their philosophies are in my opinion rather different. This is a follow up of a bounty, that proved itself it was working, with great contributions in terms in content and diffusion of the ecosystem. So it would be not intelligent in my opinion to cut down the progress and lose all the already invested on these team, and prevent the creativity or other groups/creators to be developed.

Would you be open to operating this as a bounty with curation oversight on subsequent requests? I understand the proposal is already on-chain and little can be done at this point. But we're losing governance oversight on funds with ad-hoc managed bounty systems. It would be great if in the future you could migrate to operating a separate Creadores Web3 bounty and specifically state in that proposal how the vision of your project differs from the existing spanish language bounty along with information on who can join your program, what the conditions for entry are, etc.

Great production quality btw, I can only understand every 4th or 5th word, but the production quality is definitely up there.

Would you be open to operating this as a bounty with curation oversight on subsequent requests?

Once we have completed this first formal stage of the initiative we will be happy to operate through the bounty system. And not only that, we will also continue to adapt and apply modifications to the work methodology based on the needs of the creators being supported at that moment and the interests of the community!

We have to be dynamic in these aspects depending on the external and internal conditions of the initiative. Focus and adapt to the needs and profiles of the content creators of each promotion, not on generating "x" pieces of content without any prior sense, since in the end it all depends on how the creator/user defines their role in the ecosystem through their series of content.

We have to guide, teach and incentive users who are passionate about this technologies/communities and want to share their knowledge and points of view.

First the creators, second the content.

Continuing with the answer to the question. Speaking for myself and several regular creators, right now we would prefer to continue with the plan that we had established from the beginning and go ahead with this medium-spender proposal, since we have already been working for 2 months to make it possible.

It is a reality that the OpenGov process has been good for the initiative and has even helped us better plan the work to be done in the coming months and understand how to better share the results and data collected with the community in a more clearly way. But it is also a reality that some details of this governance process, as it could be in the horrible case of having to redo the proposal and restart the process to make it coincide with the bounty system, greatly harm the momentum of some initiatives, especially those that are so dynamic and variable like the open groups for content creation.

how the vision of your project differs from the existing spanish language bounty

When the other bounty for Spanish content is up and running we will be able to specify all the differences, so far we don't have data to compare as it hasn't been active yet due to the problem they had with the choice of bounty curators as I understand it. In any case, one could think of our initiative more as a open dojo and a service available to all users of the ecosystem than as a bounty as such.

We want the resources that we generate to help all content creators and initiatives for incentive the generation of content that appear in the ecosystem in the future, also in other languages than Spanish. For this reason, in addition to the guides for content creators, we will be translating all of our reports and analyzes of the work done into English over the next few months.

The vision and foundations of our initiative can be summarized in the following three points:

  1. Be open to all users of the ecosystem with the exception of agents who have malicious intent or harm other users and creators.
  2. Reward through tips all users of the ecosystem who generate valuable content to share their knowledge and points of view.
  3. Give support and advanced guidance to regular content creators who want to create a project with a formal content calendar. Help them define their own role in the ecosystem through series of content that can be competitive on the platforms they operate.

who can join your program & what the conditions for entry are

All users of the ecosystem are welcome to participate in our group, without prerequisites. All users are invited to share the pieces of original content they generate so we can review it, start giving them some basic guidelines to improve the quality of their work and even help them define their personal brand, their series of content and the objective with their work.

What type of content is eligible to receive rewards? All content that is of value to the community and helps define a mature web3 ecosystem:

  • Content with an educational, informative or even purely entertainment message, but never content with a commercial purpose. Content of greater or lesser depth generated by true passionate users of a technology and community, not speculative content generated by gamblers and mercenaries.

  • All kinds of original content that we are qualified to assess: how to guides, educational presentations defining concepts and components, introductory project presentations, podcasts, comparisons, rankings/lists, etc. etc We would also love to start rewarding and supporting users who want to create content aimed at an almost exclusive audience of developers and students. It is not the main objective, but it would be something interesting during the next months of activity to find collaborators and talents to scale up this more technical content in future stages of this initiative.

  • Content on the full range of possible topics directly related to Polkadot/Kusama ecosystems. We want to encourage users to share their knowledge and views on topics they know and are passionate about. We always give recommendations based on the profile and knowledge of the creator about content that could be made of high value for the community, as well as recommendations on the format and way of publishing it so that they collect better results on the platforms they operate (youtube, twitter, blog ...)

This morning I have configured the subdomain for the gitbook docs for the initiative. wiki.creadoresweb3.com

There is still almost no information in it, but during the next few days I will complete all the sections (except the content creation guides that will take a couple more weeks). I will also expand the information on the homepage of the web, in addition to uploading a first article to the blog analyzing the data from the report of the last 4 months of activity.

On the main page of the website and on the wiki we will explain all the basic information to join and participate in the group, among other things. Right now to join and start participating it is only necessary to access and verify in the WagMedia discord, but when the WMv3 update is released we will surely start operating on our own discord server, totally open like the current one, where we can organize communication with more channels.

Great production quality btw, I can only understand every 4th or 5th word, but the production quality is definitely up there.

Thank you so much! The truth is that personally I am very happy with how several creators have grown and improved the quality of their work since they began to receive support. We have been lucky that in general only true passionates of the ecosystem have always appeared in the group, all with creativity and desire to improve their results.

During this new stage, I hope that several new profiles that we support will succeed in achieving their goals with their dedication. In the end, the most important element when it comes to the success of these profiles is, once the series of content has been defined, it is to be constant with their work.

Great initiative! It is important to highlight that one of the objectives of this proposal is to educate a generation of content creators, giving them advice and support, and this will increase the quality of Polkadot & Kusama ecosystem's related content within the spanish-speaking community. That's the main reason I support this proposal, I think both creators and the rest of users can benefit from it.

Very necessary initiative for the spanish-speaking community. Having someone as LV giving advice on how to improve the quality of the creators' content is just great. I think spanish-speaking content creators who really want to make their brand (podcast, blog, even personal brands) grow within the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem, will appreciate this proposal.
