Polkadot Insider is a media site that emphasizes on researching, creating insightful, educational contents of the Dotsama ecosystem, bringing HOTTEST news in the FASTEST ways, and the most important is to support projects built on Dotsama ecosystem to engage the community easier by creating marketing campaigns on Polkadot Insider.

Started from June, 2022, Polkadot Insider was created, and gained attention from Polkadot community on Twitter through our professionalized-simple content format, because we know the fact that, Twitter is the platform that people love to surf reading about cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, and a friendly content interface would easily catching their attention. The results is absolutely worth - until now December 2022, Polkadot Insider’s traffic is more than 1 million impressions per month. You can check out the performance report of the Polkadot Insider’s page.

The following proposal seeks funding for the production and development of Polkadot Insider in the next 4 months (from February 2023 to May 2023). This proposal is generated to officialize our contribution to the Dotsama ecosystem due to the last 6 months we seek a small amount of funding from separate projects to contribute directly to them.

The objective of this proposal is to create a valuable media site for Dotsama that brings insightful content, fast news, and support promoting projects from different segments. Also, we intend to expand our work to the Youtube platform where we create an instructional library for users who love Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem!! Moreover, you can check again the last discussion to have a better comparison. (I didn't clear the process so that I make new discussion) To compare with the previous discussion, checking feedback from Raul, Kryptochain, Anaelle, and Polkadotter, there are some points I have updated:

  • Detailed 6 months' performance of our Twitter community in a very details report.
  • Detailed marketing strategy in the "Outreach part" of the full proposal.
  • In the last discussion, I called 148K for 6 months for maintaining our Twitter page, 60 How-to videos, 12 interview videos. In this new proposal, I adjusted down the cost to $61390 for 4 months for our Twitter page, 30 How-to videos, and 8 interview videos and manage a Crew3 community to get more potential users and enthusiasts on board (it would down 37,8% if we count on one month).
  • Audience target update: I updated our main target audience would be firstly in South Asia (when in my proposal mentioned about it more details).
  • Detailed Video plan that I would complete time by time.
  • Detailed budget distribution for each part.
  • Our official collaboration form for projects that have a campaign can contact us (we intend to diversify marketing campaigns for all projects have related to Dotsama with the same amount of content in terms of "special campaigns".
  • We'd expand time to deep-dive more amazing utilities to create content with this proposal as we mentioned in the documents, and Polkadot Insider daily would go higher than we did in the last period of time when we didn't have enough budget to invest enough time for it, still we got good results.
  • Lastly, we will start in February because we put it on chain in January.

Some important documents:

  1. Full proposal
  2. Full Treasury Proposal Spending folder of Polkadot Insider
  3. Public Report for the community to check our work (we'll update the report weekly for anyone who is interested in checking it, but the full report will release after the period of the funding request.
  4. Video Youtube plan

Finally, thanks for all the support and recommendation from all the wonderful people who commended the last discussion, especially those who support me to adjust this proposal in detail.

We will launch our full report from metric performance, the community feedback and further strategy for the next phrase in the beginning of June.

You can check the discussion here!

Voted Aye

I seem to be the first one to have voted Aye for this and I'm doing it because I've seen your work and have referenced it in a lot of my news videos and I know it's not easy to sustain yourself as a team from just some temporary funding from some parachain teams and you need a bigger fund to really grow and expand that marketing.

The only suggestion I would have for you is to maybe also try to attract the local market in your native language because I think it would be useful to use your Polkadot analysis skills to help promote it in a language other than English.

Good luck with the referendum !

Thanks Kryptoschain! Appreciated your support!

I've already mentioned that Polkadot Insider will reach out to South Asia market (hopefully to get a bit bigger in Asia market) to promote our brand name, we have strategy and ability to afford that. We still keep putting English content to keep it globally that everyone can know what we do exactly while it's the common language.

It's hurt, but they might have their own reasons. However, if bad scenario happens, we still keep contributing as we always do, but we might decrease our quality and get a smaller team when we are nearly out of self-funding.

At the beginning, the treasury spending proposal aims to have good resources and motivation for the team to get a better quality and go multi platforms, cover mass our brand name Polkadot Insider, as well as motivating to create last-long content that we could use in any coverage, sources, books we want besides daily contents like we do about on-chain data, metrics,...

perhaps this is failing because Polkadot Insider is a for-profit media organization that doesn't discriminate, and promotes and compares projects from inside and outside the Polkadot ecosystem as if they're the same. for example, lumping Polkastarter and other foreign ecosystem projects that are piggybacking off Polkadot's brand in with legitimate projects is never going to go over well with the community at large.

media companies and organizations promoting Polkadot ecosystem should at least be doing due diligence on the projects they represent, and commit to presenting complete and accurate information to their audiences, and not mislead them.

Voted Aye

Hi CrisNguyen,

as stated in in discussion topic I voted Aye to the proposal.

This proposal seems reasonable for me too. Thumbs up for providing performance report, it returns the feedback to the governance voters.

One thing I noticed is the calculation of the KSM exchange rate of $22.6. I dont think 7D EMA is the best indicator as in this case it is already off by almost 10% ($24.6). I believe a longer period of 30 days or other method like simple price average over last 30 days may be closer to the price during the voting.

Everything else seems fine so I will vote for the proposal. Good luck!

It seems your proposal was deployed during the time of higher price volatility. Difference between the actual and proposed price of KSM ($28.6 compared to proposed price of $25.6) effectively means that you will receive a additional funding of 260 KSM or $7500. How do you plan to address this difference in funding?

Hi CoinStudio, thanks for your feedback and also your sincere support on-chain. I'm not a regular price checker and consider these days the price have high volatility and it's difficult to know exactly how much I would receive, my responsibility is still to fulfill the additional funding with more value.

But in details, my to-do list is to use that additional funding into the next month (June 2023) to maintain our Twitter content making with nearly 220 infographics, support projects on their special events, work on an extra of 8 How-to videos and also 2 videos of interview.

based on what i've seen of their work so far they seem to be making an honest and consistent effort promoting the Polkadot ecosystem. with some treasury funding perhaps they will have greater flexibility and control over the projects they feature, and ability to cover the ecosystem in a more balanced way.

I was going to wait it out and then I saw a Polkadot Insider tweet included in a news article pushed to me by google news. This is a top 10 influencer account for polkadot and I look forward to seeing what the team can do with funding after having operated for 6+ months without any funding. Please don't make me regret it. Thanks!

In our view, this proposal is much more precise than the previous one, good job! The YouTube plan looks reasonable and viable.

Polkadot Insider is one of the major content creators and influencers for Polkadot and Kusama. Doing a great job within a few months and reaching outstanding level of audience (22,5k followers on Twitter). We at Polkadotters know how important and difficult is the brand building. Polkadot Insider creates content, that is necessary for the ecosystem growth and its exposure. We give our AYE for this referendum.

Hello everyone,

So my referendum is official confirmed, and the treasury would be operated starting from February (In January will focus on planning).

However, due to the market price increases positively, we would like to extend the date of this treasury spending to 5 months (make this officially) - February to June

Also, we will weekly report in the Public Report, you guys can freely to check our progress everyweek (but I recommend you guys should check it each month when we finalize monthly's reports).

Again, thank you for supporting Polkadot Insider.

Members of the Fellowship Collective involved in projects flagged by the OG tracker should provide a proper explanation, return the funds to the Treasury, or face expulsion.

Invarch failed to provide the first two, so Gabe, a founding member of the team, does not meet the ethical standards required to have a voice in the Fellowship.

TENETS (extract from the fellowship manifesto)

"Members are expected to faithfully uphold the following tenets.
Clarifications to the rules should be in agreement with these tenets. Acting in clear breach of these tenets may be considered by voters as grounds for non-promotion, demotion or, in extreme cases, exclusion from the Fellowship.

(1) Sincerely uphold the interests of Polkadot and avoid actions which clearly work against it.
(2) Respect the philosophy and principles of Polkadot.
(3) Respect the operational procedures, norms and voting conventions of the Fellowship.
(4) Respect your fellow Members and the wider community"

#510 Secure Funds
EJgd...JGQZ
30th Mar '25

To prevent potential mismanagement of Youdle DAO treasury funds, we propose temporarily transferring these assets to the Kusama Treasury, which is now the safest option.

Rationale:

The Invarch team, which currently controls the funds, has a history of questionable financial decisions, including the transfer of more than 200K ASTAR from the DAO to a CEX without transparency.

Community members have raised concerns and asked questions about fund management, but the team has not provided clear answers.

To ensure responsible management, these remaining funds (400 KSM) should be safeguarded under Kusama governance.

Next Steps:

The funds will later be returned to Youdle DAO holders through a transparent and verifiable process.

We urge the community to support this measure to protect DAO resources.

Moving DAO funds to a CEX because it's a shared address instead of moving to another on chain address? No answers.
