Short note

If this proposal passes, it will only send a system remark as signal for the following topic. So in short, nothing will break here, whatever you vote, it will either add a short comment onchain or do nothing,

If the proposal passes, it will write on chain:

Registrar #1 should keep on performing human verification

I would then take it as signal that the Kusama community would rather keep this extra step. The outcome will likely also mirror on Polkadot.

NOT Voting means "Yep, get rid of this extra costly human check".

Context

Since its introduction, Registrar #1 is performing a human verification for every single identity verification. This is even currently done twice per verification and I plan on reducing this to either 1 occurence or even 0.

Whether a human verification should be maintained is the topic of this vote and I would like to gather the general opinion. This is a signaling vote and I reserve the right to make the final call on this topic.

I am inclined to remove the human step for every single verification for the following reasons:

  • it takes time (quite some...)
  • Meanwhile, I have improved the automatic checks in the process to the point where my automatic checks are aligned with my "human" checks and the manual verification becomes rather useless
  • it increases the costs (= the registrar fee)
  • I have the feeling users don't really care about the extra check and would rather pay less

If my feeling is incorrect and this human check is valued, I will happily think about alternatives.
