#329 Kusama Parachain Launch NFT Campaign (2nd try)
Originally passed as motion 328, a proposal that failed due to the XCM being constructed with the wrong origin (one that requires a referendum, which failed on execution by Statemine), I have proposed the same motion as the one before to be voted again for the Kusama Parachain Launch NFT Campaign, this time constructed with originType:Xcm
: which should allow us to execute it after approval. Contextual information on the proposal below:
To celebrate and commemorate the launch of parachains on Kusama, and to raise awareness of Kusama, parachains, auctions, and crowdloans among a new audience, Web3 Foundation would like to host a free NFT giveaway campaign. This campaign is designed to engage both existing and new members of the Kusama community and build awareness and education around parachains, as well as scam prevention and safe participation in Kusama auctions and crowdloans.
As part of this campaign, the first 9999 people to submit a claim will receive one of 3 NFTs, created as part of the Kusama Parachain Launch collection by Berlin-based artists Awer, Vidam and Andreas Preis. For this campaign, each artist created their own interpretation of the Kusama canary, painted on a section of the Berlin wall used as an open canvas where street artists can freely (and legally) express themselves. This location was chosen to reflect the theme of the campaign, that Kusama parachains are breaking down the walls of the centralized web
In order to execute this campaign, we will need governance approval to create and mint the 3 classes of NFTs on Statemine. Council members might be aware that in order to mint assets in a permissionless way on this common good chain, a runtime upgrade enabling this functionality needs to be proposed on the Relay Chain Council, and approved via governance. While the Council awaits for the runtime upgrade proposal to be up for vote, the collective can authorize the minting of assets in a permissioned way. Below you will find the code lines that block permisionless minting, give privileges to the Relay Chain collectives to authorize this action and specify the call to execute this:
For this reason, this motion is now up for vote: requesting Council members to authorize the minting of three classes of NFTs on Statemine: one class per artwork. If the Council approves the motion, the address specified as class controller will be able to autonomously mint the NFTs on each class after.
More information on the campaign, the NFT pieces, preimage and call hash can be found on THIS DOCUMENT. Please review and vote at your convenience!
