To be able to recover inside an epoch on Kusama and prevent an offline event or potential slashing, we built a snapshot solution that allows bootstrapping a Kusama/Polkadot validator in less than five minutes to continue producing blocks.

The goal of our proposal is to be able to sustainably offer Parasnaps for free to everyone. With the proposal, we can cover the costs incurred over the last six months.

This is a follow-up proposal on what was intended to be covered by the Kusama Infrastructure Maintenance Bounty Program.

This proposal is to retroactively cover generated cost by Parasnaps for the last 8 months.

### Context:
Parasnaps was built out of the necessity to have a high-throughput snapshot solution to be able to take fast actions. Existing snapshots solution took around ~40 minutes to Download and our solution allowed to restore a validator in a couple of minutes.

### Central Topic:
Parasnaps was launched in February 2022, this proposal aims to cover the costs and work generated by Parasnaps from August 2022 until its decommissioning in March 2023

### Future Proposals:
With warp sync in its current state, we believe Parasnaps is no longer required and has been decommissioned in March 2023.

Treasury Proposal: parasnaps.io maintenance

This is a follow-up proposal on [Referendum 170](https://kusama.subsquare.io/referenda/referendum/170).

Since we originally created the retroactive Parasnaps maintenance proposal, the market experienced a significant downturn from the EMA7 specified in the proposal (KSMUSD @ $31.345). Despite accounting for some market volatility and 5% slippage in the proposal, the resulting difference between our costs and the payout is large in this case and therefore, we would like to follow up with this proposal.

Please find here a screenshot showing our sale of the KSM at a price of $24.75. This proposal is to cover the remaining $5748.15, or 223.02 KSM at an EMA7 of $25.774 for KSMUSD.

We would also like to address one concern that was raised in our previous proposal regarding providing snapshot only for Polkadot. During the entire time that the Parasnaps service was live, we provided daily snapshots for both paritydb and rocksdb on the Polkadot and Kusama relay chains. Unfortunately, we cannot prove this through the Wayback Machine, but would appreciate if those that used the service could vouch for our statement.

Retroactive parasnaps.io maintenance

### Date: September 2024

## Short description: 
We propose to showcase Polkadot’s high scalability in a real-world setting by submitting enough transactions to completely fill blocks for ca. 40 minutes. To ensure that this proceeds as smoothly as possible on Polkadot and following community feedback, we would like to test it on Kusama first. To conduct this test, we require KSM to pay for the transaction fees plus to temporarily finance some existential deposits (EDs).  
 
## Note: 
At least 80% of the KSM spent in fees through this proposal will be returned to the treasury (see: https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/learn-polkadot-opengov-treasury). We will also return any excess KSM remaining after spamming transactions or KSMs used for temporary EDs.

Amforc takes no cut for conducting this experiment. For full disclosure, as Amforc operates validators on Kusama, these validators may occasionally collect part of the transaction fees.
