Acuity Index was originally called Hybrid and was funded by two Web3 Foundations grants.
It solves a critical issue in the Polkadot ecosystem - it enables dapps with rich functionality to be fully decentralized.
This proposal is to update Acuity Index to fully index the latest Polkadot runtimes and to implement important features.

It's an interesting-sounding approach, but I have two questions:
Overall, my opinion so far is that it can be an interesting piece of technology, but it needs more thinking and a better, more comprehensive design. In its current form, it's not offering too much progress. Please let me know if I'm overlooking any information.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your questions.
1. The index is essentially hinting at where the data can be found. Event data from blocks can be proven by beefy light client in the regular manner. Potentially this sort of indexing could be integrated directly into Polkadot SDK.
2. In the next proposal https://index.acuity.network/proposals/2/ it switches to using an indexing configuration file to make it considerably easier to index across multiple runtime upgrades.
