KSM RFP #3 - Kusama.App ~ $100K price!

Rejected

This proposal approves bounty 34 that would be used to fund an experienced team in the ecosystem develop kusama.app. See the Polkadot forum post for details on what I think the focus should be but fell free to share your ideas.

I'd like to put my kusama.app domain to good use, let's build together a launchpad for newcomers to the ecosystem which makes it dead simple for builders to start a project/community/marketplace/organization, collaborate, upload code and make the best use of the tech available in AH and the Kreivo parachain for DAO governance.

Initial scope summary: A simple app that provides easy on-boarding to founders and hackers who can set up a DAO(organization/project) in minutes without knowledge of Web3, it doesn't require wallets or tokens to get started and provides basic governance and asset management primitives.

  • Milestone 1(Q2): Designs and functional prototype
  • Milestone 2(Q3): Functional DAO governance system

Bounty 34 budget: 8000 KSM Curators:

  • olanod (me)
  • Paradox (Validator)
  • florentina57 | ValidAndina (Validator)
  • Lorena Fabris

@SUPERDUPONT Hi! Lot's of progress since then. Virto as a technology partner is working together with several teams with real-world use cases making their entry to the ecosystem much simpler. We have abstracted a lot of complexity and are focusing on high-level tools easy to integrate in existing applications like <virto-connect> or the VirtoOS. Check our demo to see how easy is to transact with a Substrate blockchain without wallets or tokens :)

Dear Proposer,

Thank you for your proposal. Our first vote on this proposal is NAY.

The Treasurer track requires 60% quorum (6 ayes from 10 members) according to our voting policy. This proposal has received one aye and five nay votes from ten members, with four members abstaining. Below is a summary of our members' comments:

The voters expressed mixed opinions on the referendum, with several opposing the proposal and others abstaining. Critics raised concerns about the new RFP structure, suggesting it might be better suited as a standard treasury proposal, especially regarding the kusama.app domain's alignment with privacy initiatives. Many felt the execution lacked clarity and that a visual mockup and clear roadmap were necessary. Supporters appreciated the team's capability but acknowledged the need for a more structured approach with lower funding amounts and fewer curatorial controls.

The full discussion can be found in our internal voting.

Please feel free to contact us through the links below for further discussion.

DISCLAIMER: Our Decentralized Voices delegation voted to abstain on this referendum in accordance with our conflict of interest policy, announced on the 27th of March, 2025.

Kind regards,
Permanence DAO
