We’re excited to officially introduce PolkaTalent, a new project developed by Kunveno in collaboration with the amazing Virto crew—the builders behind Kreivo, one of the most forward-thinking networks in the Kusama ecosystem focused on simplifying the creation and management of decentralised organisations.

All of this feeds directly into our white paper, where we detail how PolkaTalent fits into the broader work3spaces vision—a decentralised marketplace designed to connect freelancers with companies seeking top-tier talent, built on fair reputation, transparent value, and trustless coordination.

PolkaTalent is part of our broader mission to unlock new pathways for freelance professionals in Web3. Think of it as a decentralised talent engine that starts by listening to those who know the industry best—you.

We’re currently recruiting Web3 freelance developers active in the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems to join us for early user journey interviews. Your insights will help us design intuitive UX flows tailored to real dev needs and workflows in this space.

📆 Interviews will run from April 7 to April 11.

💰You’ll be compensated with 4 KSM for a 45–60 minute call.

If you are a Web3 developer excited to shape the future of decentralised work and co-create with us from day 1, apply here before April 7.

Let’s build something incredible, together.

Hey KSM token holders!

Apologies for submitting this as a comment—this is actually my first time making a Treasury proposal and I’m still learning the ropes (I got confused with the preimage!). I hope it’s okay to do it this way for now 🙏

I'm here to request a small amount of support—32 KSM in total—to compensate 8 Web3 freelance developers who are joining us for early user journey interviews as part of the development of PolkaTalent for a 45-60 minute call.

The goal of these interviews is simple: we want to design tools and UX flows in PolkaTalent with the people who will actually use them. These initial sessions will help us map the real workflows and needs of devs active in the Polkadot/Kusama ecosystem.

We’ve actually received applicatins from more than 8 devs already (which is awesome!)—but for now, we’re keeping this first round small. If things go well, we’ll bring more folks into the process during later testing phases and propose support for that down the line.

Thanks so much for considering this, and again—apologies for this informal format. Really appreciate the opportunity to build in this ecosystem, and we’re excited to keep showing up with solid work and real outcomes.

Let’s keep making cool things happen,

Hey there! Just wanted to add a bit of context about this ref.
During yesterday’s AAG (thanks Jay for the great show!), it was mentioned that the proposal comes from the Virto crew. Just to clarify: the proposal actually comes from the Kunveno & PolkaTalent team, in collaboration with the amazing folks at Virto (huge shoutout to them!), without whom PolkaTalent wouldn’t even be a thing we could dream of building.

That said, check out the kind of response we’ve had to our call for applications from devs across the ecosystem so far:Image

and what they’re saying when asked about their motivation to join the PolkaTalent initiative:
ImageJust wanted to show that we’re serious about this—and we really appreciate your support here 🙏

Dear Proposer,

Thank you for your proposal. Our first vote on this proposal is NAY.

The Big Tipper track requires 35% participation and simple majority of non-abstain voters according to our voting policy. This proposal has received two aye and seven nay votes from ten members, with one member abstaining. Below is a summary of our members' comments:

In the referendum, opinions were divided regarding the proposal's necessity and clarity. Some voters expressed skepticism about the need for additional external talent, suggesting that the existing training programs were sufficient. Concerns were raised about the rationale for compensating interviewees and the overall lack of clarity in the proposal's objectives. While a few voters saw potential benefits in exploring the initiative, most felt that the proposal failed to clearly articulate the problems it aimed to address and how it would ultimately benefit the ecosystem.

The full discussion can be found in our internal voting.

Please feel free to contact us through the links below for further discussion.

Kind regards,
Permanence DAO

#512 Adjust (only) ideal bulk proportion

Setting a realistic target for coretime sales

Background

This proposal aims to adjust the parameter that controls the ideal target for coretime sales to a value that better reflects the expected demand of Kusama cores. This change will help stop coretime prices from being driven to near-zero and instead drive prices to a more realistic value, benefiting the Kusama ecosystem.

The main utility of KSM is to pay for coretime (which gets burned), but current prices are virtually 0, making it hard for the system to benefit from its main product offering. Elastic scaling will help grow demand for coretime and thus KSM, and there might also be new sources of KSM demand like Kreivo's memberships, but we need to adjust the core business model.

Proposed Change

This proposal focuses solely on adjusting the ideal_bulk_proportion parameter:

  • Setting ideal_bulk_proportion: From 100% to 40%

The proportion of cores available for sale which should be sold.
If more cores are sold than this, then further sales will no longer be considered in determining the sellout price. In other words, the sellout price will be the last price paid, without going over this limit.

Rationale

A previous proposal (Referendum 507) included both this parameter change and an inflation reduction. However, community feedback, particularly from validators, raised concerns about the inflation reduction component. Validators expressed that reducing inflation would make validator operations unprofitable, potentially harming network decentralization and security.

This modified proposal addresses those concerns by focusing only on the coretime sales parameter, which has received broader support. By setting a more realistic target for bulk coretime sales (40% instead of 100%), we can help discover coretime's true value while maintaining the current inflation rate that supports validator operations.

Note that this number is not set in stone; it's a starting point that can help us better discover coretime's true value. The parameter can be adjusted in the future based on market response and ecosystem needs.

Future Considerations

This proposal is part of a broader effort to optimize Kusama's economic parameters. A future proposal focused on inflation may be developed in collaboration with validators to ensure any changes to inflation include conditions for newly minted KSM that benefit both validators and the broader ecosystem.

As a Kusama community member, I believe this focused change represents a balanced approach that addresses immediate concerns while setting the stage for future improvements.

The plan is to support bridging ERC-20s to Kusama by double bridging from Ethereum -> Polkadot and then from Polkadot -> Kusama in a second hop through the P<>K bridge. A test demonstrating this has been added here: https://github.com/polkadot-fellows/runtimes/pull/625
