#486 Prestel & Partners: Family Office Investor Conference Series for Polkadot & Kusama.
This proposal aims to obtain a budget to sponsor a series of 5 global Family Office (FO) summits, with the goal of bringing more external capital to Polkadot and Kusama. It should be noted that this Kusama OpenGov proposal is following a failed proposal of similar scope to Polkadot OpenGov. If this one is successful now, we pledge to pivot HIC’s investment scope to also include Kusama-focused projects.
In discussion with active members of the community we believe that Kusama’s ecosystem offers an underappreciated investment opportunity, a differentiated culture focused on artists, hackers and innovators and a great place to uncover experimental projects advancing Polkadot’s pioneering technology stack. This proposal would seek to channel new investments into the ecosystem, and make more funding available for teams building on Kusama.
Although development progress has been quieter in the canary compared to its cousin Polkadot, a number of recent developments including Virto’s evolving organisational and payments infrastructure, Brale’s regulated stablecoin integration and the launch of the community focused decent/dUSD stablecoin (#471 and #474) that recirculates yield into the ecosystem, representing exciting foundations that have the potential to unlock new investment opportunities.
Key Kusama Amendments
If this proposal passes, HIC Fund II will make the following three key pivots to Kusama:
- HIC Fund II will open its investment scope to also include Kusama-focused projects in addition to those building on Polkadot.
- HIC will establish a Krievo DAO to operate as an investment advisory committee providing the fund with domain experts, supporting invested entities and sourcing talent and projects*
- HIC will use dUSD as a stablecoin for investments and on its balance sheet.
*HIC DAO would act as a non-binding advisory body sourcing and pre-screening investment proposals, with the fund's GPs making the final investment decision.
We are also including an additional line in the budget for filming around the London event which we believe is key to communicating the work to token holders and for creating useful collateral for marketing the fund to investors as part of a follow-up strategy beyond attendees of the events.
Event Series
This proposal will focus on 5 global family office (FO) summits, which is where we see the greatest opportunity for bringing untapped capital into Polkadot and Kusama. The summit host, Prestel & Partner, has been chosen as a well established and reputable organiser of such investment conferences. The conference series would be organised by Harbour Industrial Capital on behalf of Polkadot and Kusama and take place in Singapore, Istanbul, London, Zurich and Riyadh between April and December 2025.

Invarch failed to provide the first two, so Gabe, a founding member of the team, does not meet the ethical standards required to have a voice in the Fellowship.
