Encointer requests retroactive funding for its expenses in Jan-Jun 2024
The amount of the proposed spend is CHF 77’500 ≃ 87’188 USD ≃ 3’904 KSM for 6mt operations
Encointer is a common-good chain on Kusama laying the foundation of a more democratic and more inclusive web3. Its secure and decentralized sybil-resilience protocol enables local communities everywhere to generate their own, autonomous local currency, and use it to stimulate the local economy.
Main achievements in 2024 so far
- Community development and continued growth of Nyota in Tanzania
- Adoption of Encointer faucet
- Prototype for democratic community governance (vote weight based on personhood confidence, not funds)
- Decentralization of infrastructure

How did you prepare a forecast estimate of costs involved and first establish consensus with any Kusama stakeholders as to the options that would defined the scope of work that was important and necessary, and that those costs would be justifiable for future retroactive funding requests?
Prior to commencing any of the work that you are seeking retroactive funding for in this proposal, how did you reach out to others in the Polkadot ecosystem requesting access to standard faucet code that could be reused or modified to prevent duplicate work to minimise costs?
