Upgrade Kusama: v1.2.6
a year ago
Executed
Very minor update for Kusama that only affects the Relay Chain, Asset Hub, and People Chain. Mainly it cleans up some errors from the People Chain launch, removes anything Identity-related from the Relay Chain, and prepares Asset Hub for an upcoming change to asset indices.

Hey, why 1.2.6 is considered "minor" for Kusama and "breaking" for Polkadot? I get that Kusama already got the People chain, but why in that case the version number is the same if the changes are different?
@HByx...qvRE
First of all, there are no breaking changes, sorry for the miscommunication. Identity will always be readable and there will be a period of time when transactions submitted to the Identity pallet will be rejected from the runtime. All storage and transaction formats remain unchanged.
The versions are the same but Kusama and Polkadot are two different pieces of software. They both have changes related to the People Chain, but Kusama's already launched and this is a "cleanup" upgrade to fix a few oversights (that will not happen on Polkadot). On Polkadot, this is now the launch phase that Kusama went through a few upgrades ago (v1.2.0 and v1.2.1 (nobody asked why they were different then)).
Here's a table that should hopefully clarify things:
