Request for funding of Stakeworld's RPC nodes, bootnodes and snapshot service
2 years ago
Executed
This is a request for funding of Stakeworld's RPC, snapshot and bootnode services. Previous requests were requested and granted through the Infrastructure Maintenance Bounty program, which was recently ended. Therefore this request will be an OpenGov Treasury request.
The full proposal can be found here.
In short the request is for funding of:
- Setup and maintaining RPC services for kusama and westend (included in polkadot.js)
- Setting up and maintaining bootnodes for kusama and westend
- Maintenance of database snapshot services for kusama (maybe to be ended after Q2 in favour of warp sync)
- Contributions to the wiki with instructions about setting up bootnodes and rpc/wss.
- Maintaining a node installer script and a database size history page.

As the curator of the previous Kusama Infrastructure Maintenance Bounty, I want to note that the cut-off date for the Snaphot service funding was the end of Q2 and was aligned with The Snapshot Service Deprecation guidelines.
It is recommended that Stakeworld continues to operate the snapshot service as it is part of their funding request until the conclusion of Q2. After that, it would be advisable to either decommission it or continue the service taking responsibility for its operational costs.
Hello Stakeworld! We’d be pleased if a member of the team would join AAG this Monday at 3:30pm UTC to help us better understand the importance of RPC services and infrastructure. This has been an ongoing discussion with other providers and it would be great to get your input on the show. Please reach out on Matrix @jay-chrawnna:matrix.org! Thanks! 🙏
