Proposal for Metrika Blockchain Operational Intelligence Platform Services
This proposal aims to provide a publicly available dashboard that expose deeper operational KPIs and insights allowing community members to analyze network activity, consensus participation or RPC node performance. With this proposal, we outline how our Operational Intelligence Platform and blockchain monitoring expertise can help advance the Kusama community’s operational capabilities by providing visibility into the operational health of the Kusama network and the ability to quickly identify issues, troubleshoot, and obtain information useful to improving the overall reliability, security and performance of the Kusama network.
By democratizing this operational information, Kusama community members can improve the operational resilience of the network: To address the need of the Kusama community for operational insights, Metrika will leverage its intelligence platform to store, analyze and visualize real-time data pertaining to the health of the Kusama network. These real-time dashboards will be publicly accessible and will be revised and edited from time to time based on the state and priorities of the Kusama community.
We propose the development of the following three public dashboards:
-
Network activity Dashboard
-
Consensus and Staking Dashboard
-
RPC Activity Dashboard

The product design partially overlaps with the existing blockchain explorer products, despite of the graphs. It does not provide more urgent or in-depth monitoring functions, such as relay chain uncle rate, parachain block producing, xcmp messaging, grandpa voting, etc. The cost of 300,000 US dollars is too high, and the 10-month development cycle is too long.
The cost vs benefit does seem to be there. Would need to reduce price and timelines drastically. It may be simpler for the existing blockchain explorers to include this as they already harvesting the data and have what is needed to easily extend and add this. Would also recommend adding man hours, actual people estimates if you going to relook at costs. Also consider adding projections of running costs once the work is finished
