NFTretas
My name is ecardo5o and I present the NFTretas program (in Portuguese it would be like saying NFT messes). Joining me is another ambassador, Raphael Kling. We are both Brazilians and at this first moment we are targeting the program only for Portuguese speakers.

We started the shows as a way to document various conversations we started having about NFTs between ourselves and others involved with different industries and social realities in our country.
In the middle of this process we discovered the real purpose of this project. Which is a process of discovering and documenting new use cases. And we consider Brazil to be a very interesting place for that. Because we have both the reality of developed countries and all the problems of the third world.
Despite having the format of a conversation between friends, the subjects covered are always very dense and we have already discussed topics such as:
-
Copyright in Music and NFTs
-
Copyright in Cinema and NFTs
-
Collective Financing and NFTs
-
DAOs and NFTs
-
Digital Art Market and NFTs
-
Traditional Art Market and NFTs
-
Policies for the Conservation of Collections in Museums and NFTs
-
NFTs as a new art form
-
Social Context of NFTs as a way to promote the entry of small producers into the futures market
-
NFTs as property titles in favelas
And many others to come...
I decided to write here about NFTretas as a way to expose more of what we're trying to do and collect ideas on how we can bring the program closer and closer to the Polkadot and Kusama Universes. With this established over time, we aim to build an identification between the subject NFTs with Kusama and Polkadot brands in our country.
In fact, we already do this through branding and news coverage.
But I think we can go further:
-
Interviews with Key People in the Ecosystem - This would be a good idea but it would need to have some way to do simultaneous translation, since the programs are live. We can start making recordings, but the result would not be the same.
-
Subtitling (in English and Spanish) - I think it would be really nice for everyone to understand the subjects we are talking about, but as they are long programs I think we can do this in highlights (edited cuts).
-
Documentation and Research - Preparation of editions that collect thematic cuts from various programs (with subtitles in Portuguese and Spanish) as a way to make this material available to everyone as a research deliverable. This material can serve as an inspiration for new use cases, understanding the perspectives of Portuguese speakers about this new technology and even understanding cultural issues involved in the Brazilian reality.
We are currently running the program on an experimental basis and we would like to thank and ask for support from the Councils of Polkadot and Kusama (with tips) so that we can continue this work.
As we collect more interactions, suggestions and community collaborations here, we hope to turn all these ideas into a structured project.
We would like to thank everyone for their attention.

Thanks for sharing this! It is always exciting to watch emerging technologies collide with real-life initiatives.
Re: Suggestions for the programme
The first thing that came to my mind while skim-watching your videos was: DEMO.
It would be great if any of your video participants could find a way to walk the audience (live) through how they themselves use NFT platforms to pursue the use cases you are documenting. That way, you would be complimenting your discussions with some meaningful practice, which could also get newbies or experimenters started in the NFT universe. :)
Re: Ideas for integrating Kusama
The simplest way would be to streamcast live minting of NFTs on any of the existing and future Kusama-based platforms and discuss important metrics such as ease-of-use, gallery structures, minting fees, speed of minting, available minting formats, accessibility, etc. There would be no need to get technical, because these demos/tutorials could be followed up with in-depth interviews of key people such as platform founders, NFT collectors, etc.
Re: Funding and knowledgebase support
You can submit a tip here anytime you produce Kusama-related content. That said, it would be VERY helpful to have English subtitles to some of your video extracts. It would really help the Kusama assembly get a better grasp on your own local perspectives, and also encourage more grounded and mutually beneficial collaborations.
For an overview of the Kusama NFT ecosystem, you could have a look around RMRK, Kodadot, Singular and Unique and see if they are relevant to your programme's objectives. :)
Addendum:
Kusama is currently auctioning parachain slots to 13 parachain projects. What is remarkable is that 5 out of 13 projects are offering NFT-related rewards/bonuses to encourage KSM holders to bid for them. I'm thinking that "NFT as an incentive mechanism for crowdfunding on Kusama" could be your programme's entry point into the Kusama ecosystem.
Hello AnnaElle, Thanks for the feedback. We will work on your suggestions, which were all very welcome. If you want to participate in our project, just let us know. We are in need of more thinking heads and who knows, maybe even taking advantage of the material produced in ways that we haven't thought of yet or that we have difficulties to do at the moment. The videos are free for this and anyone can use them. They are currently spoken in Portuguese and this is a hindrance but we are organizing to have cut versions in other languages as well (and English will be a priority, of course). How do I get in touch with you? This week we saw your material on the Parachains and I suggested to another Ambassador, a Frenchman named Jérome Poignard, to put together a version with a graphic design in line with the Kusama brand. Is this OK for you? In line with this, I wanted to talk to you in order to create synergy to increase the reach of this report and also others that you may produce in the future. When I saw it I thought the content was excellent. Along with me are other Ambassadors and Candidates who are currently producing and translating content in Portuguese, Spanish and French. All this stuff we produce is being made as open source. Anyone who wants can edit, ask us for subtitles, add more infos and updates, finally do whatever you want to further increase their reach. With the support of the Treasury (via tips) we are splitting these collaborations to make the whole process even more expansive and decentralized. With this, we are opening accounts and bringing more creative, competent and productive people into the ecosystem. This is a model that is working really well here. I believe that with time we will get to know each other better and these small experiments can lead to excellent future projects. What country are you in? We are in Brazil. Can we schedule a call? Thanks again for your attention.
