KSMJobs -- A forum for substrate projects to find high-quality substrate developers

The Kusama ecosystem is growing, and there is no single forum that allows interested developers to easily find work at the numerous companies currently building with substrate. Conversely, there is no central place for projects to easily source talented people vital to building the ecosystem.

Our goal is to create a two-sided jobs marketplace that leverages many components already present in the Polkadot.js stack. With KSMJobs, projects will have the confidence to hire qualified developers with verified identities and a track record of historical performance. Developers will easily be able to view opportunities at the projects they are interested in and post their profile to be discovered by prospective projects.

So far, we’ve built a PoC that enables anyone to post or find a job on KSMJobs: http://ksmjobs.net/

We will continue iterating on this project in the coming weeks, and welcome any feedback or advice from the community!

Here are some suggestions:

  • remove the background animation, it destroys the performance
  • add SSL
  • if all you want to build is a job marketplace, use an existing platform for it like Wordpress. It's terrible spaghetti code, but cheap to build and deploy and comes with a bunch of job listing site plugins for free that will keep the spaghetti code away from you. Commercial plugins are fairly cheap and can take it up a notch and make it really pro IRT features.
  • if you want to do something special, decentralize it. Use IPFS for listings details, system.remark for job ad submissions, IPFS to host the site, ENS to enable human links in supporting browsers.

Thank you for this! It could be a great tool for the community.
Some suggestions:

  • Agree with Bruno. The pink/block colors makes it really hard to quickly scan and digest what jobs are available. I suggest basic black font on white background or something standard. No need to get creative with a job board itself. Express your creativity in the logo/brand and promotion.
  • It's difficult to digest what jobs are available at which companies. The format is non-standard. I suggest being able to sort by company/job/vertical or simply bolding company name Acala - Runtime Engineer and making it standard across all of the jobs.
  • For example, one job has "We are looking for a Senior Blockchain Engineer who will report directly to the VP of Blockchain Engineering and who will help develop core blockchain node software for the Moonbeam Network" so we only figure out its Moonbeam after reading 25 words. Whereas "About Acala, The mission of Acala is to support and nurture the financial applications of the true decentralized web aka Web3 for a more open and fairer future." is more obvious its Acala but again difficult to sort by Acala.
  • Not everyone will have the same skills. Me as a non-developer does not want to look through 20 developer positions before realizing there is no business development or community positions available. Maybe the headers are based on types of engineers or if its a community/operations role that works too but should be a different section
