KSM Treasury Proposal:KSM Research Project

Proponent: HfFUQ8rt6qD9brCTAtxinzNzPfwn374fhUKP4Lh4R5aKYRM

Date: 19.04.2023

Requested KSM :1618 KSM (58,757 USD),

Total request :2023 KSM (73, 440USD),
I propose an 80/20 payment structure: 80% of the total amount to be paid upfront, and the remaining 20% upon project completion. In other words, 1618 KSM as an initial payment and 405 KSM to be paid after the project is successfully completed.

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to Polkaworld for their dedication to staying up-to-date with Polkadot and Kusama developments and encouraging me to apply for treasury funds. I also want to thank Mrb for providing valuable suggestions. Before submitting a complete proposal, I look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue with everyone to explore the feasibility and potential of my project. Your valuable insights will greatly contribute to the refinement and success of this endeavor. Although I am not a software engineer, I am an avid fan of Polkadot and have been consistently following related developments. Through discussions, I have become aware of Polkadot's technological advantages in the blockchain field. My research project can bring new perspectives and value to the community while paving the way for Kusama's broader application through dialogue with the academic and financial sectors. The purpose of this proposal is to increase the promotion of Polkadot and Kusama in China, laying the groundwork for the next wave of growth.

Project Overview: This project aims to boost the presence of Polkadot (DOT) and Kusama (KSM) in China by utilizing the Zhihu platform. Zhihu, a popular Chinese Q&A platform, boasts a vast user base, high-quality content, and fosters a robust knowledge-sharing environment. The project will engage and draw in the target audience through captivating posts, top-notch research reports, online events, and collaborations with student associations for offline activities. A selection of valuable articles and resources centering on Kusama (KSM) will be utilized for the high-quality research reports, delving into the project's various aspects. By examining these materials, the project aims to attain a profound understanding of KSM's technology, use cases, market potential, and impact on the blockchain ecosystem. A prime example of this is the in-depth study, "A Comprehensive Analysis of Treasury Spending in the Kusama Network: Evaluating Governance, Allocation Efficiency, and Impact on the Ecosystem", found here. This highlights the project's dedication to producing high-quality research and content.

Before submitting a comprehensive proposal, I am eager to engage with everyone here in a constructive dialogue to explore the feasibility and potential of my project. Your valuable insights and opinions will be greatly appreciated and will undoubtedly contribute to the refinement and success of this endeavor.

Hello again,

I note that, in the span of 5 days, you went from defending this:

Regarding the second issue of whether this will affect the objectivity and independence of the research, If proposal approved,I will fully disclose in the literature that I have received funding from the KSM Treasury, and I will not conceal this information.

Regarding the third point, I obtained this conclusion from the Web 3 Foundation, so I believe it is a fact, rather than a "murky waters" statement, reference: https://web3.foundation/press/dot-has-morphed-and-is-software-not-a-security

to asserting this:

Change the publication of the original academic article to publishing articles on Zhihu, which is a major modification to the proposal. This also avoids concerns about accepting treasury disbursements that may impact the objectivity and independence of academic articles.

Avoid mentioning sensitive information, such as "SEC has already considered Polkadot to be software and not securities."

I can only appreciate your willingness to address the feedback given and re-draft your entire proposal accordingly.

Still, I note that there are already a number of active content creation hubs from Chinese-speaking communities addressing the problems you have laid out: Polkaworld, Polkadot Ecology Research Institute, and AIWeb Chinese. The first two are long standing communities (i.e circa 2020) with strong reputations and achievements in the area of academic research, events, outreach, marketing, news reports, etc. for Polkadot and Kusama.

My questions are:

  • Apart from your use of the Zhihu platform, what makes your proposal different from what these communities are already doing in practice?

  • Has your team considered collaborating with these already established and well-funded organisations to cut costs on items such as: "Partner Relationship Building, Advertising, Media Cooperation and PR, Market Research and Analysis, Academic Consulting Fees, Financial Consulting Fees"?
