Im excited for DeStore and proud of your success Josiah !!
Hi Josiah,
This is a really good idea 👍🏽 heard you speak on Kusamarian today!
I'd like to point that I know about 2 teams who are also building a merch store on dotsama so expect some competition however there is something in your proposal which is a point of strength and havent seen anyone do it.
Please note in no way I'm saying you should change your proposal, because on Dotsama I feel the culture here promotes having multiple teams offering same solutions but I want to urge you if you can expound your warehousing/shipping management and try to connect with the other teams building a merchandise store to handle or have an advisory role on the Order fulfillment process a crucial part of the supply chain in which most crypto projects struggle with.
I understand some rely on the supplier to just directly ship to someone (which is also not a good thing) while other merch stores who have the items have a difficult time sorting the packaging to different owners, finding a reliable and cost effective service provider.
For example I have merch ordered from Australia and was sent through local post which apparently hasn't arrived 3 months now, parcel tracking doesn't even seem to work.
Selection of third party carriers or shipping service is an important or else both the shipper and customer end up dealing with poor communication, bad customer service and could even result in loss.
Seen you mentioned the complexity of different rules which is true like different customs tariffs where if I buy an item like everyone else when it gets here I then have to pay more than half the buying price turning out to be quite expensive.
People like to withhold their personal details in crypto or stay anonymous so the fact that you are using kilt as a solution for this is also interesting.
Goodluck and I also hope you'll be able to reach out to the various teams and perhaps collaborate on some of these issues.
Thanks for the detailed comment.! Sure, other stores will emerge within web3, which is healthy for everyone. It is not our intent to have exclusive rights, just the ability to sell a set amount of products to trial the system and capture learnings to refine our product market fit. This will allow us to weed out any problems before we offer our platform to DAOs. all learnings will be captured in the case study for all to read. Future fulfillment is a third-party logistics company; the software they use, Shiphero, is used by many fulfillment warehouses worldwide, so other DAOs will be able to drop goods at a convenient location when DeStore opens up for DAOs to set up their stores. While starting up we need to have good communication with the 3PL company future fulfillment are a small young energetic team that wants to be a part of this new and exciting venture. After we refine our system DeStore holders will be able to use any of the 3PLs from Shipheros 40+ international warehouses. There are many complications with logistics; these problems exist in all traditional web2 platforms, Which is why this trial is so important. It will allow us to capture learnings and refine our product based on issues we encounter on the journey. The hoodie I have proposed and the pricing includes tracked international shipping which has around a 10-day delivery time. In regards to prices of products and shipping being expensive. This is something that the decentralised store holders in the future will have to work out how they add value to the product to make the extra price worth the international shipping. As we step into a new era of digital twins, the products will have a new dimension to add value to the products on offer. For example, a hoodie with a digital twin can be equipped to gain yield in a metaverse or increase strength in a game. A buyer might spend $160, including shipping, and receive the product. Sure, a hoodie could be purchased in real life for $100, but it will not have the web3 attributes given to it by the DAO selling it. The purchase needs to come from the wallet which is linked to the DID; there are many reasons for this. The main reason is shipping and potential disputes. Both parties need to know each other. If a user wants to remain incognito, unfortunately, the trade can not take place because the goods need to be delivered and both parties need to be aware of each other so any legal, postage, or other disputes can be resolved. Thanks for your commnets and time Kratistos, l hope i covered everything in my responce.!!
