Proposal: Dubbing “Polkadot Decoded 2022” playlist into Spanish
Who?
I'm Sara and I've been dubbing the official Polkadot videos into Spanish for 9 months on the YouTube channel called Dotsama - Doblaje al español. During the first months I was applying to Tips on Kusama’s Treasury, and for the last 3 months I’ve been working on a Child Bounty.
In this proposal I’ll be working with 2 more experienced translators, and with Cervera, who will be in charge of editing the videos.
What?
Dubbing of Polkadot Decoded 2022 playlist into Spanish. The Polkadot Decoded 2022 playlist has more than 100 videos that are equivalent to 34 hours of viewing in total.
When?
From September to December 2022. It’s important that the Spanish-speaking community has the content of the Decoded 2022 event as soon as possible to be aware of the news of the ecosystem.
Why?
-
Misinformation. One of the most important things is that the community is informed and aware of the technology so that they can participate in it.
-
Lack of English proficiency in the Spanish-speaking community. According to the EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI), 60.6% of the Spanish-speaking population have low/moderate English proficiency. The remaining percentage is not fluent in English.
-
Little content about Polkadot in Spanish. Most of the content about Polkadot and its ecosystem is in English.
-
Content subtitled, but not dubbed. Dubbing offers users greater convenience because they don’t have to follow the reading with their eyes.
-
Blind Spanish-speaking people who aren’t proficient in English don’t have access to information. From experience in my family, Spanish-speaking blind people who aren’t proficient in English and want to learn need audio content in Spanish about the ecosystem.
-
Information may be distorted when passing through third parties. This causes the user to be misinformed.
Amount requested:
$51,158.3 (KSM/USD on the EMA7 on Subscan at the time of submission)
Marketing & Success metrics:
SEO. Reach an average of 250k views in total with all episodes.
These videos will be accessible to any user through the Dotsama - Doblaje al español channel, and will be available for any member to share through other channels and/or platforms (such as Polkadot Hub or the Polkadot en Español channel on YouTube).

Hey Sara Thanks for the Proposal. But I am not sure did you already saw that or not. WagMedia Spanish Group is already translating Polkadot Decoded Videos. You might get involve with them. Thanks https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLX84pQ4cs1SNwJ0ze4cfvrAItD0oIEZLD
I really appreciate your suggestion and how WagMedia is contributing to the ecosystem with translations since the last few months. The dubbing project that I'm carrying out has been going on for 8 months and the channel seems to be having good results, both in terms of metrics and support from the community. Since I started, this dubbing project has been funded by the Treasury through tips, and during the last few months through a WagMedia Child Bounty. The experience with the Child Bounty was not very pleasant, so we decided that this channel would follow WagMedia independently. I totally respect what WagMedia does and I think it has done and is doing a great job for the community, but I think WagMedia should respect the creators who first started. It stands to reason that as time goes on more and more creators emerge and some content duplicates. This proposal is based on a playlist where the user can find the complete Decoded 2022 in Spanish and removing some videos from the list would make it incomplete and lose quality. I'm going to review the videos that WagMedia has already published and the budget of those same videos could be reduced. What do you say?
I am very involved in the Spanish speaking community and I know first hand that Sara's videos are very well received. The experience and quality are noticeable in the reproductions. I have never noticed any errors and everything translated has made sense. This is quite difficult since many translators simply translate verbatim and this leads to catastrophic misunderstandings. I'm looking forward to having access to Sara's dubs. It is absolutely necessary to have access to Polkadot Decoded in Spanish since a lot of important information was released in the different events. Regarding the data mentioned, totally real. Every day I get an average of 5 people asking about Dotsama videos that are in English and they don't understand it. For the Spanish speaking community it is very comfortable to be able to redirect users to a video dubbed in Spanish.
